Finland is a relatively narrow country with its northern area inside the Arctic Circle and the southern part enjoying a northern European climate. It has 50,000 lakes over one hectare in size and over 40,000 kilometers of coastline, which includes thousands of islands. Over 60% of the land is covered in forests.
Snow covers the Northern area of Finland for 6months of the year (mid Oct - mid April), but in the south, warm summers are generally the norm with 20hrs of light during the midsummer period. If you need a ¨magic hour¨look, this is the place to come for it. Location photos of areas of interest can be e-mailed for you.
Logistics:
Helsinki - Vantaa airport is an international hub. It has many daily direct connections to major cities in the East & West. All major European cities have several daily direct flights to Finland. The domestic air network is modern & efficient; every major town in the country has an airport with daily connections to Helsinki.
Modern, fast road & rail systems cover the whole country, traffic jams are unknown, and moose or reindeer wandering on them causes the only major hold-ups. Mobile and Internet connectivity is available everywhere except small areas of the tundra in Lapland. We will have satellite telephones with us when working in these areas.
General:
Finland is a safe, secure country to work in. English is spoken widely everywhere and Finnish even more. Film crews are hard working & multi-lingual. All major camera, lighting and grip equipment is available for hire and rental houses can arrange for specialized equipment to be available generally within 24 hours. We have one of the most modern & up to date film laboratory and telecine unit in Europe available. If you wish to make offlines of your work, we have a Final Cut Pro editing suite in our office in the heart of Helsinki.
